About the role

The role of a Success Coach within our Learner Services team is key to supporting the successful progression of learners on their programme of study. As well as providing pastoral and safeguarding support to learners, you will support the curriculum teams with attendance and behaviour concerns and you will also support with our programme of enrichment events and activities throughout the year. Working closely with the curriculum team you will identify learner support needs and arrange appropriate interventions including signposting and referrals to internal and external services.

There will be safeguarding responsibility and an expectation that you will work closely with our safeguarding team. You will also work closely with the Inclusion Team and other key staff across the college. You may be required to support learners with challenging behaviours, so experience within this area would be beneficial.

About the person

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with learners. Candidates should also have experience of working with young people and the ability to deliver engaging activities and interventions. Knowledge of external agencies and support services and an understanding of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults is essential.

Candidates should also have:

  • Relevant level 3 specialist qualification such as youth work or willing to work towards.
  • Positive interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to learners and deal professionally with colleagues and external agencies.
  • The ability to remain calm during conflict.
  • The ability to work on own initiative and also as part of a team.
