 £23.76 per hour + £5.94 holiday pay – £25.29 per hour + £6.32 holiday pay)

Hours are variable

Fixed term until 30th June 2024

Location: Nunsthorpe, Grimsby

Please note that this is not a permanent position. The hours are on an as and when basis.

About the role

The Faculty of Health, Wellbeing and Society are now looking to appoint a highly skilled dog groomer to programme lead our popular dog grooming programmes. The successful candidate will join the well-established Animal Care team based at our Nunsthorpe campus. This is a fast-paced and diverse role, working in conjunction with wider teams of academic and support staff to deliver a high-quality education experience to our learners.

Other duties will include:

  • Planning and preparing high quality sessions
  • Marking and feedback of assessment
  • Undertaking quality assurance activities
  • Dealing with queries via phone, email and letter
  • Maintaining records
  • Analysing data and producing programme self-assessment
  • Attendance at parents’ evenings and other college events.

About the person

The ideal candidate will have experience of working within a busy commercial dog grooming salon and have some knowledge of teaching and assessing of learners. The candidate must be a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who can work with autonomy and be able to offer solutions to problems that may arise. The role is fast paced and therefore excellent organisation and planning are key skills required by the successful candidate.

Candidates should also have:

  • Level 2/GCSE Maths and English
  • Level 3 Qualification in Dog Grooming
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the dog grooming Industry
  • Will have a teaching qualification or be willing to undertake one
  • A sound knowledge of animal welfare needs
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Confidence in using a range of IT software programmes.
