This role is to provide practical and technical support to our Engineering Apprenticeship provision at East Riding College. As an Engineering Technician, you will prepare workshop materials for use by students and lecturing staff in practical sessions as well as providing supervision and support to learners during practical sessions to ensure that learning targets are met.
The ideal candidate will manage material stock levels and inventories including the tools store during classroom and workshop times, and complete quarterly tool audits and will ensure that all machinery and equipment is installed and maintained, recommending and implementing improvements where necessary. You will carry out fault diagnosis and repair breakdowns accordingly and records are to be kept up to date for machines, workshops and PPE.
This role requires a fully competent Engineer with relevant engineering industry experience – on site and/or in the workshop environment. You will have knowledge of engineering maintenance techniques and materials. The successful candidate will hold a Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Engineering or be willing to work towards this. You will also have knowledge of Engineering Safety regulations and an awareness of the Health & Safety at Work Act. Experience of lean manufacturing would be advantageous. This role would suit someone with excellent IT and communication skills who possesses a flexible attitude to work.
